Currently, the Sketchfab Store exclusively accepts PayPal for buying or selling 3D models. We hope to offer alternative payment services in the future.
The amount you take home for each model sale depends on your total model price.
The Sketchfab fee is 12% of the model sale*.
A PayPal fee will also be deducted, and the exact amount depends on your location:
- Selling from within the US: 2.7% + 30 cents
- Selling from outside the US: 4.2% + a few cents
For example, if you sell a $100 model from within the US, Sketchfab will receive $12 (12% of $100) and PayPal will receive $3.00 (2.7% of $100 plus $0.30). You'll receive the remaining balance ($85).
Value-Added Tax (VAT) is listed separately on invoices for Sketchfab Store sales but it is always listed as $0 because it is included in the transaction total. Sketchfab does not charge additional tax for Store sales.
Coupons and Discounts
From time to time, Sketchfab may launch marketing campaigns where we offer discounts. We only do this if we believe it will result in increased sales, and we will keep the discounts realistic. After all, our goals are aligned and we'll always act in your best interests.
We will notify you ahead of time, giving you time to prepare your own marketing and benefit from these campaigns as much as possible.
Sketchfab can on its sole discretion decide to apply a discount on the license fee paid by the buyer. In such a scenario, and unless otherwise stated explicitly by Sketchfab to the contributor, the cost shall apply equally to Sketchfab's commission and seller's revenue.
This means that if a discount code for 20% is used to purchase a $100 model, the new subtotal is $80. Sketchfab will receive 12% of $80 ($9.60), and the seller will receive 88% of $80 ($70.4) minus PayPal fees.
How do I link my PayPal account?
Before you connect your PayPal account, you'll need to be approved as a Sketchfab seller. Once you're approved, you can link your PayPal account by clicking the button under your Account Settings and following the PayPal prompts.
You may see "Waiting for PayPal verification" in your Account Settings. You should receive an email from Sketchfab shortly after that, verifying your PayPal Business account is verified and linked. This usually takes just a few minutes, but may take up to an hour.
If you'd like to change or disconnect your PayPal account after going through this process, you can do so by clicking the Unlink button in your Account Settings.
Where can I review my model sales?
In addition to receiving an email notification when you sell a model or models through the Sketchfab Store, you can find a record of your sales by hovering over your profile picture in the top-right corner of any page and clicking Sales.
When will I get paid?
You'll be automatically notified by PayPal via email as soon as you make a successful sale. Plus, your funds will be immediately available in your PayPal Business account.
PayPal email confirmations will come from service@paypal.com. For more details, you'll want to log in to your PayPal account.
How do I get invoices or tax data?
PayPal takes care of issuing W9s and 1099s forms when necessary. For more details, you'll want to log in to your PayPal account.
What currencies are supported?
Currently, only United States Dollars (USD) is supported when buying and selling 3D models on Sketchfab. You can still buy and sell models in countries outside the US, however, there will be a conversion in terms of currency before it reaches your PayPal account.
Can we ask for donations?
Sketchfab allows donation links, such as Patreon or directly to your PayPal account, on your user profile, but not on your model page(s).
Any donations links must be clearly labeled as such so as not to cause any confusion about what users may or may not receive in return for their payment.
