What is Fab?
Fab is a new marketplace from Epic Games that will give all digital content creators a single destination to discover, share, buy and sell digital assets. Its mission is to inspire and enable the next generation of creators to build the emerging metaverse together. It will unify Sketchfab with Unreal Engine Marketplace, Quixel, and ArtStation Marketplace into one site that brings the best content, product features, and underlying tech together in service of creators. Fab will offer millions of high-quality digital assets from studios, brands, and independent digital artists who will benefit from an 88% revenue share. Learn more at Fab.com.
What kind of content will be available on Fab?
Fab's expansive library of assets will include almost anything that creators and developers can use to build 3D experiences, including 3D models, materials, plugins, environments, VFX, sound, animations and more.
When will Fab launch?
The Alpha version of Fab is already live as a plugin within the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN). Later this year, the Fab experience will also be delivered through a web platform.
What will happen to Sketchfab?
Later this year, the Sketchfab Store and the rest of the Sketchfab community will come together with Unreal Engine Marketplace, Quixel, and ArtStation Marketplace to form one destination: Fab. Sketchfab will remain as a standalone service while we migrate the Sketchfab features to Fab. Sketchfab's content and community will be moved over to Fab as it develops and expands. The process will be gradual and we will update you on the status of the transition every step of the way.
Will all of Sketchfab's features be available on Fab?
We're planning to bring most of the features from Sketchfab over to Fab. This feature set will include enterprise solutions, asset management, and API functionalities, as well as viewing and sharing abilities. We are still finalizing the transition but will communicate a full list of Fab features in the coming months.
