Every Sketchfab user has the ability to download select 3D models. You can specifically search for downloadable models (by toggling "Downloadable" in the Sketchfab search bar), or go to our dedicated Downloads page.
Available for Download
A 3D model is only free to download if the owner enables it.
You can tell if a model is available for download if you see Download 3D Model below the viewer on the model page (like in the image below).
Clicking Download 3D Model will offer the following:
- the original file that the author uploaded, along with any texture, material, and extra files that were included
- the transcoded glTF version of the model
- the Augmented Reality (USDZ) version, which loads the model in Apple Quick Look.
Unavailable for Download
If the Download 3D Model link is not visible on the model page (like the screenshot above), the user has decided not to make their model downloadable.
Licenses
Each downloadable model is offered under a Creative Commons license, which means if you download a free 3D model and you want to use it or build upon it, you need to credit the creator (except for CC0).
If you're unsure how you can use a downloadable 3D model, review the details of the corresponding Creative Commons license:
- CC BY - Attribution: depending on the NC, ND, and SA choices, others may share, edit, and use the model, but they must give you credit for the original work.
- CC BY-NC - NonCommercial: others cannot use your model commercially
- CC BY-ND - NoDerivatives: others may use and share the model, but it cannot be altered.
- CC BY-SA - ShareAlike: depending on the NC choices, others may share, edit, and use the model, but derivative work must be shared under the same license.
- CC0 - Public Domain: No Rights Reserved
No Derivatives and ShareAlike are mutually exclusive.
If the model author changes the license after you download it, that's ok, but the the license you received it under will always prevail. Per the Creative Commons rules:
"The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms."
For information on the licenses available for non-free Store models, see Licenses.

@wow-how - does this only happen on your own models? Can you give me a link to an example where this happens?
Hi,
We tried to activate the download function but it's not there as the screenshots on this post shows, did you disable this option or are we missing some step?
We only see the options: Allow texture inspection, Allow people to inspect unwrapped textures in Model Inspector and Age-restricted content.
Hi zuo,
I see that download is enabled on your latest upload. Are you still having trouble?
James
I found something interesting, not sure if it's a bug, If I click on properties when I'm in the page that is showing the model under the "manage this model" box, I can't see the option, but if I go to my list of "Models" and click on the properties of the model I want to activate, there I can see the option to activate downloads.
Good catch! We'll get that fixed. Thanks for the report.
I don't know for how long it's been there as I just discovered it but this Model Inspector thingy is just a-m-a-z-ing ! Too bad I don't work there as I would have brought some bottles of Champagne for the occasion ;)
Damn excellent job, again ;)
Thanks! :P
I downloaded an .obj and got a zipped file, which I unzipped - inside there were two folders: 'textures' and 'source.' The 'textures' folder contained a .jpeg, all good, but the 'source' folder contained another zipped file that, when I tried to unzip, gave me an error saying:
Unable to expand [the file] into "source." No such file or directory.
What do I need to do differently to access the .obj?
@quinaltdelete what operating system are you using? Can you try extracting the second zip with 7-zip? http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
Super excited that you guys support the GLTF format! The zip that is downloaded conveniently contains an AUTHOR file. I'd like to suggest it should also contain a LICENSE file to help people keep trace of attribution / share-alike / etc responsibilities they have for using this content.
@dnikdel Thanks for the feedback! I'll pass it on to the team.
Hi!
Is it possible to download your own models even if they are not avable for public dowload?
Thanks!
Hi!
Not yet, but it's something we're working on! I'll add your '+1' to this feature request and follow up with any news.
can we download annotated model from sketchfab?? or is there a way to export annotated model from sketchfab into unity???
please reply soon
@fatimazulfiqar03 (I also answered on the other comment thread.) No, I'm afraid it's not possible to export annotations to other formats or software. They only exist on Sketchfab.
Good
Wow

Ark_9 Sorry I don't understand. What happens when you try to upload? It looks like you have several uploads in the past few hours.

Darkolen - can you share an example of a model you've downloaded that doesn't work in Blender?
hi
Hi if i use free CC-ATTRİBUTİON models in this website should i give credit? i will publish my game play store
Yes, you must give credit for CC Attribution license models.
Hello, I'm seriously considering purchasing several models off your site, however none of the free models that I have downloaded look anything like what is actually displayed in the SketchFab viewer.
I've downloaded them and imported them correctly into Blender and Unreal Engine, and they look consistently wrong.
As a test, I took the same downloaded model, and temporarily uploaded it as draft in to my sketchfab account, and again, same result.
I can provide specific details of which models I'm talking about if you could contact me directly.
Thank you.
I've just created a help ticket on your behalf to discuss this.
Hi, I'm using the data-api in my ios app and I tried to download point clouds in the .ply format.
That is not supported in the api but it´s possible to download the .ply (original) on the web ?
So there is no way to download a point cloud in the original .ply format ?
(I still can download get the GLTF file but that pretty useless in iOS.)
