Have had issues with compatibility on two older (2-3 yrs old) macbook pros. I followed the advice listed on this page with no success. Any ideas?

Hmm ok. Can you please post a screenshot of this report? http://webglreport.com/

Does it work in other browsers?

@thomdejager - Do you see the same problem on other browsers? Incognito?

You might try going to chrome://flags and enabling 'Override software rendering list'

Yes, there seems to be an issue with Android 6 on the nvidia shield k1. If you can send me the Console log and a screenshot of this report ( http://webglreport.com/ ), it would be helpful. support@sketchfab.com I'm not sure what you mean by the "plain WebGL source"

I'm just a visitor to the site so no process. I just get about 3 seconds of the underlying model and then this error appears over the top. I've been on this page before with no issue and it's an old post (relatively) so I'm not sure why the encoding of the webpage would be causing this now?

It's because Chrome is trying to use SwiftShader (a CPU implementation of WebGL) instead of your GPU. I've seen this once or twice recently, but I haven't yet been able to figure out why it's happening. It might be a bug in Chrome. I'm going to need our 3D team to look into this.

@AlexVuks - Hi Alex. I'm sorry you're having trouble. Could you give me some specific model examples?

By the way, shadows don't work on iOS, so if you're viewing a model whose lighting heavily relies on shadows, it probably won't look great on iOS.

I'm using Internet Explorer, on this device. I just saw that WebGL support is currently experimental for it, and (unfortunately) the only other familiar browser, that is in the Windows App store, is Opera. Hopefully, they get WebGL running at full functionality soon. In the meantime, I'll stick to viewing Sketchfab content on my PC. Thank you for your help, James.

Just want to report than my FireFox updated to 44.0 and WebGL now works fine, so it was a FF issue. Maybe this information will be usefull somehow for somebody

I'm having serious issues getting ANYTHING to load on some earlier android devices like an S4 running 4.4.4. I'm getting the WebGL error with sketchfab even on test models of 167 faces.

I know it's not my browser because A) the webGL tests all check out and B) I've tried 4 different browsers and C) Marmoset viewer is loading just fine on the same device.

This is going to be a problem for me as it now means my client will have to re-direct their mobile site to static content instead of the sketchfab model.

Hi there, I'm having issues with the viewport at the moment. My browser (Chrome) supports and is running WebGL and yet when I click a model it says "For compatibility reasons, 3D is not available".

  • I tried to do the override software ... on my Chrome Browser and no luck.  I still cannot see the 3D video; not compatible.  I use a Windows 7 64 bit Dell desktop computer (refurbished) and a Dell display about 10 years old.  Out of all of the videos like this that were sent to me to view, I was able to view one, but not the rest.  I wonder how that even happened?  I am not a computer geek and don't like to do something I can't get myself out of.  So the troubleshooting steps didn't work for me.

@harriergeographics - Which browsers have you tried? Can you describe the behavior you see? What does the WebGL site say about your device/browser?

@wnslw - Hmm, weird. Can you go to http://chrome://flags/#ignore-gpu-blacklist and enabled the "Override software rendering list" flag?

I just want to post a short addentum here: On Chrome, for unsupported configurations (such as my RX480 on Ubuntu 17.04 with amdgpu), you can actually toggle a pair of Chrome flags to force hardware rendering on, so you won't have to deal with massive slowdowns on models.

    Step 1: Go to http://chrome://flags

Step 2: Enable the "Override software rendering list"

Step 3: Hit Ctrl+F, this will bring up a find line. Type "3D software rasterizer" here.

    Step 4: Disable it.

    Step 5: Restart chrome.

Step 6: Enjoy lag-free Sketchfab on your non-Windows platform.

Thanks! Like some of the comments above, I think upgrading to version 64 (currently in beta) might fix the problem. https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/beta.html

@sirends I think it's because the `autospin` feature rotates the model in space, but when you spin the model with your mouse, it moves the camera, not the model.

This causes the environmental lighting to be at a different angle when you move it back to the same place with the mouse after it has auto-rotated. You can check this yourself by using Alt+Click to rotate the lights.

You could try using a different environment with more neutral light direction, or disable the autospin.

In fact, I see the environment, a grey background but no object, no message, no arrow… I could send you a sreenshot to show you…

    Hi James,

We are having similar issues here with a premium account. Could you please help us? Here is our website with some Sketchfab embeds: https://shapelabvr.com/ (please scroll down to the “Created with ShapeLab” section).

As a visitor, with an up to date Chrome or Edge (for example) you’ll most likely see the following message “It looks like your browser or this site is blocking some scripts or cookies necessary to properly display the viewer.”

We are using Elementor WordPress plugin and tried to simply embed the models by following these instructions https://help.sketchfab.com/hc/en-us/articles/204982689-WordPress

Unfortunately, I’m not a technical guy, but I guess the generated “iframe HTML code” does not supposed to look like this..? Can’t see attributes such as “allow-same-origin allow-popups”

    Not sure if I’m copying the right part from our page: <iframe class="wp-embedded-content lazy-loaded" sandbox="allow-scripts" security="restricted" data-lazy-type="iframe" data-src="https://sketchfab.com/models/31012aa1375f443a852110b4f9112564/embed#?secret=7r1ObyPxXo" data-secret="7r1ObyPxXo" frameborder="0" width="688" height="387" src="https://sketchfab.com/models/31012aa1375f443a852110b4f9112564/embed#?secret=7r1ObyPxXo"></iframe>

Could you please let me know if there is a workaround for this?

Thank you very much for your time!

I tried safari, chrome (fresh install), and firefox on two macbook pros (my clients) and couldn't get past the page alerting the user that there might be WebGL issues. In safari I enabled WebGL as instructed with no success. Interestingly, when I clicked on the compatibility link (orbiting box), it always worked? I'll have time tomorrow to learn more about these macbook pros. Everyone else who has viewed my model so far have not had issues.

Mildly confused as to why it says the platform is Win32? I'm not amazingly technical when it comes to computers so maybe I'm misunderstanding it but I'm definitely running 64bit Windows.

Also fixed with Deryckeredries's suggestion...finally.  Note, this also fixed a problem I was having watching 360 videos on YouTube using Chrome.  The playback was very choppy before allowing Hardware Acceleration, now it works great.
