Posts & Comments
The Sketchfab viewer is natively supported in Facebook posts. Just copy and paste a model URL into your post and it will be embedded like a video. You can use the full URL (like https://sketchfab.com/models/442c548d94744641ba279ae94b5f45ec ) and or the short URL (like https://skfb.ly/ArGr ). If one doesn't work, try the other!
Updating Facebook's cache
If the thumbnail, title, or other model metadata is incorrect when sharing a model to Facebook, there are some tools to refresh their cache.
To refresh an existing post, you can try the Refresh share attachment feature:
To refresh future posts and replace all the metadata, try the Debugger Tool:
Go to the Facebook Debugger Tool, enter the URL, and click Debug.
Then, click Fetch new scrape information.
Custom Page Tabs
You can also create custom embeds in a Page tab.
First, you need to add a Static HTML iframe tab. You can do that here. You should get to this screen:
Click Add Static HTML to a Page and choose the Facebook page in which you want to add the Sketchfab tab.
This will add a star Welcome tab to your Facebook page.
Click on it, and choose the Static HTML app.
Copy and paste the embed code of your Sketchfab 3D model in the index.html tab of the app.
Go back to your page and go to the edit settings of this tab.
Edit the thumbnail image of the tab and its title.
You now have a nice tab thumbnail.
And a great interactive 3D preview in Facebook!
