Annotations - Pro Tips

When you create annotations, each one has unique camera position AND target.

You can use this to ensure navigation at each annotation is focused on the right spot.

It also lets you manage the camera path between annotations.

Notice how the camera pivots around each individual object and the movement between saved views feels more natural:

You can set the current camera target by double-clicking on the model, and reset it by double-clicking the background. The camera target is preserved when setting an annotation's camera position.

However, because double-clicking also creates an annotation, you need to switch between the Annotation tab and the Scene tab to use the target feature effectively:

Don't forget you can also update an annotation's camera position and target AFTER creating it:

You can add links, images and other formatting with Markdown.

It would be great if you could create clickable URLs in the annotations too!!! So, in the example above, if you had a map where all these types of feature existed in Paris, you could click through to see where they can be found! Would be really good for landscape models.

Is there a way to control the speed with which the camera travels from one annotation to the next while in Autoplay?  I want to slow it down.

@vaudorne - Not at the moment. However, you can control the delay between annotations during autopilot with an embed parameter: https://help.sketchfab.com/hc/en-us/articles/203509907-Share-Models#embed-options

    Hi,

Is there way to hide numbers and annotation text window on the model and just keep annotation navigation button and saved annotation camera view?

    Hi @realvu

Not by default at the moment, but you can use a URL parameter to hide the annotation numbers/text windows:

    https://sketchfab.com/models/442c548d94744641ba279ae94b5f45ec?annotations_visible=0

However, this will also hide the navigation buttons. You can still navigate between saved views with the J and K keys, or also add autopilot:

    https://sketchfab.com/models/442c548d94744641ba279ae94b5f45ec?annotations_visible=0&annotation_cycle=2

You would have to share that direct link, or use them in an embed on your own website.

    HI James,

Thanks! I tried hiding annotations and it is working properly.

However, I would also like to control the speed of camera travel at the annotation change. (I would like to make it slower)

When will this feature come out?

I could slow it down by using camera look at api rather than gotoAnnotation

However, this takes tedious labor, whenever I change the view, I have to do below.

1] Change the views with setting annotations

2] Enable the code to  print the camera value on the console

3] copy that value at the html code

    4] disable the annotations
