We are working on a solution, but I don't have an ETA yet. I'll follow up with any news. 0 Comment actions Permalink phlo123 (Sketchfab Profile) June 17, 2019 19:38 Hi, any news on the discord embed? Its still not working so I'm guessing its not fixed, and if so when will it work if you have an estimate? :D 0 Comment actions Permalink James (Sketchfab Profile) June 18, 2019 07:02 Hi, I'm afraid we have not started working on the fix yet, but it's on our todo list. I'll come back if I have an ETA or any news. 0 Comment actions Permalink jsejcksn (Sketchfab Profile) October 14, 2019 08:55 Still not working 0 Comment actions Permalink softyoda (Sketchfab Profile) April 11, 2020 23:02 Still not working 0 Comment actions Permalink ullert (Sketchfab Profile) August 27, 2020 21:51 Does not seem to work yet either, is this still being looked into? 0 Comment actions Permalink James (Sketchfab Profile) August 28, 2020 16:46 Sorry, we have not made any progress on the issue. 0 Comment actions Permalink heatheracreighton (Sketchfab Profile) October 16, 2020 22:25 Is this being worked on? Has anyone figured out a workaround? 0 Comment actions Permalink phlo123 (Sketchfab Profile) October 17, 2020 08:05 They won't fix it. Sketchfab costs close to or as much as premium development tools for games and 3D art, per month, and they haven't fixed this yet. They have no interest in fixing it. 0 Comment actions Permalink jsejcksn (Sketchfab Profile) October 17, 2020 09:12 James If the software engineering team needs help, here is the spec reference for oembed: https://oembed.com/ They're going to want to use format `json` with type `rich` and the iframe content in the `html` prop. 0 Comment actions Permalink James (Sketchfab Profile) October 19, 2020 13:26 Hello, We've always had an oEmbed endpoint: https://sketchfab.com/developers/oembed The problem is that Discord has disabled our embeds due to our implementation of Markdown images in annotations. We allow embedding images from arbitrary URLs, which Discord does not allow. 0 Comment actions Permalink jsejcksn (Sketchfab Profile) October 19, 2020 14:35 James > due to our implementation of Markdown images in annotations. We allow embedding images from arbitrary URLs Can you provide an example? > which Discord does not allow. I don't see this anywhere in the Discord docs. Will you clarify? 0 Comment actions Permalink James (Sketchfab Profile) October 19, 2020 15:14 Discord promises its users a very high level of privacy. When an image is embedded inside a Sketchfab viewer, it makes a request to the image URL, which can leak the end user's IP address to that 3rd-party domain. To meet Discord's privacy requirements, we would need to implement a proxy service to handle such image URLs. Here's an example of an image embedded in an annotation: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/edward-snowden-at-fort-greene-park-dd8d4055659c46ae8d09ffde5ffacb25?annotation=1 0 Comment actions Permalink Please sign in to leave a comment.
