Embeds in Discord are currently disabled by the Discord team for technical reasons. We are working to resolve this issue and hope to restore Discord embeds in the future.
Discord is an all-in-one voice and text chat solution for gamers.
Sketchfab embeds are supported in chats simply by copy/pasting a model URL. You can even add embed parameters!

discord would be good
Hello,
Sketchfab embeds are currently disabled due to a security concern related to images embedded in annotations. We are working on a solution, but I don't have an ETA yet. I'll follow up with any news.
Hi, any news on the discord embed? Its still not working so I'm guessing its not fixed, and if so when will it work if you have an estimate? :D
Hi, I'm afraid we have not started working on the fix yet, but it's on our todo list. I'll come back if I have an ETA or any news.
Still not working
Still not working
Does not seem to work yet either, is this still being looked into?
Sorry, we have not made any progress on the issue.
Is this being worked on? Has anyone figured out a workaround?
They won't fix it. Sketchfab costs close to or as much as premium development tools for games and 3D art, per month, and they haven't fixed this yet. They have no interest in fixing it.
James If the software engineering team needs help, here is the spec reference for oembed: https://oembed.com/ They're going to want to use format `json` with type `rich` and the iframe content in the `html` prop.
Hello,
We've always had an oEmbed endpoint: https://sketchfab.com/developers/oembed
The problem is that Discord has disabled our embeds due to our implementation of Markdown images in annotations. We allow embedding images from arbitrary URLs, which Discord does not allow.

Can you provide an example?

I don't see this anywhere in the Discord docs. Will you clarify?
Discord promises its users a very high level of privacy. When an image is embedded inside a Sketchfab viewer, it makes a request to the image URL, which can leak the end user's IP address to that 3rd-party domain. To meet Discord's privacy requirements, we would need to implement a proxy service to handle such image URLs.
Here's an example of an image embedded in an annotation: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/edward-snowden-at-fort-greene-park-dd8d4055659c46ae8d09ffde5ffacb25?annotation=1
Can you at least update the main post with a note that it's currently not working and is being worked on?
Yep, it's done.
2 years after the last update, 3 years after they disabled it.
Nothing yet?
