The Steam Workshop is a place for game developers to upload and share their user generated assets and mods for games on Steam. Now you can set up your Steam Store Page with Sketchfab 3D models.
Setting up your Workshop Item
Head over to your owner controls.
Here you can add and remove models.
Your models will appear below:
Adding 3D models to discussions or announcements
You can add 3D models to both discussions and announcements by simply pasting in a Sketchfab model URL. You don’t need the URL tags, just paste the raw URL:
Your 3D model will show up like this:
Link to Steam from your Sketchfab model description
It’s important to let people know:
- What game is this for?
- What is the link to the Steam asset?
- What does this asset include?
Tag your game content correctly
Tagging content is important because it helps centralize it on Sketchfab. It also helps us find and promote you on Sketchfab and with gaming publications.
A good rule of thumb is to add a tag for the part of Steam you’re showing your work on and add a tag for full game name.
Examples of tags used for Steam:
- Steam Greenlight: steamgreenlight
- Steam Workshop: steamworkshop
- Steam Store: steamstore
- Dota 2: dota2
- Payday 2: payday2
- Dying light: dyinglight
- Killing Floor 2: killingfloor2
Dota 2 creators: Check out this guide for publishing your assets.
Thanks to johnskyrim for letting us use his model for our examples.
